Sidmouth Literary Festival - How To Get Published Day 12/03/23

The Sidmouth Literary Festival are delighted to announce the first of our 2023 events - our highly successful How To Get Published Day will take place on Sunday 12th March at Kennaway House in Sidmouth.

Hosted by Sunday Times bestselling author and Festival founder, Jane Corry, the day-long event is aimed at providing writers with all the best knowledge about the publishing industry. Leading editors from top UK publishing houses as well as literary agents, will be talking about what they are looking for in the next bestseller, and there will also be an opportunity for a limited number of manuscripts to be submitted for critique.

We are thrilled that most of the same speakers from last year’s event (which had to be cancelled due to the train strike) have kindly agreed to share their expertise, including Imogen Nelson from Penguin Random House and Cara Chimirri, editorial director at Embla, an imprint of Bonnier. In addition, we will have an ‘Ask the Author’ panel where best-selling writers will be giving advice on self-publishing and traditional publishing. We know how valuable this event has been in encouraging and informing writers. In previous festivals, three delegates had short stories published in My Weekly magazine as a direct result of attending one of our sessions. As one said, ‘It was a dream come true.”

Further details of more expert speakers will be published shortly.

For tickets for the How To Get Published Day and for the Manuscript Submission, visit Eventbrite here.

The Festival will also be hosting Speaker events throughout the year - these will be published as and when they are organised.
