Meet the Author - Andrew Blackwood - Social Capitalism 9/9/22

Friday 9th September at 2.30 p.m

Andrew Blackwood’s survey of modern capitalism, and its failure to serve the
interests of ordinary people, has come at a timely juncture in modern British
development. While the Tory leadership candidates argue over issues of taxation, GDP growth, social inequality and the size of the state, Mr. Blackwood shows – with considerable political and historical analysis - that most of their high-profile recipes are either irrelevant or counter-productive, and would not bring the desired results.
While not proposing free market capitalism should be demolished, he suggests
wholly different policies are needed to overcome the country’s current problems.
Instead of ideology and Alice-in-Wonderland dogma – from either the Left or Right – we need imaginative, pragmatic policies to tackle head on the scourges of poverty, inequality, poor economic performance, wasted talent and blighted ambition.
Friday 9th September at 2.30 p.m. – Free entry – Teas/Coffees available.
In The Leigh Browne Room at Dissenter of Sidmouth, (entrance behind the Unitarian
