Florentine, or Bargello work, is a very popular form of canvas embroidery that has not, to date, been featured in many embroidery books. This text combines a history of Florentine work with practical instruction in its technique as well as including a collection of new and traditional patterns. The first section provides a study of the history and characteristics of Florentine work as well as a guide to thread, stitches and equipment. The second section includes colour-coded design charts complete with step-by-step instructions and full details of thread, canvas and skill level.
