We are delighted to welcome Frome's very own legend, Sunday Times bestselling author Dr Amy Jeffs to celebrate the release of her latest book, Saints: A New Legendary of Heroes, Humans and Magic.

Amy is an art historian specialising in the Middle Ages, and is the acclaimed author of Storyland: A New Mythology of Britain and Wild: Tales From Early Medieval Britain. She is also an exceptionally talented artist, developing her craft as a printmaker under the mentorship of fellow local artist Chris Pig. Amy's wonderful books blend her brilliant writing with her own stunning illustrations.

About the Book
Saints: A New Legendary of Heroes, Humans and Magic uncovers and analyses the strange and wonderful legends of saints and the window they provide into the medieval mind. Numerous saints were believed to have lived and performed miracles across Britain and beyond, from only decades after Christ's death, up to the eve of the Reformation.

Today, stories of saintly heroes are all but forgotten, especially by the secular West. This is a wrong that art historian Amy Jeffs sets out to redress in this astonishing, beautiful study: she argues that we should treat saints’ stories with the reverence we treat myth or folklore.

About the event
Amy will be in conversation about her new book, followed by a book signing (to which you are very welcome to bring your own cherished copies for signing), and an opportunity to ask questions. All of Amy's books will be available to buy on the night.
