FROME | Friday 11th October | Book Launch: The Dao of Complexity by Jean Boulton

Friday 11th October
7pm (Doors 6.30pm)
Frome Town Hall (Council Chamber)
£3 | Book Online

Join us to celebrate the launch of The Dao of Complexity by Frome author Jean Boulton.

The pandemic, climate change, rising populism, geo-political unrest – just a few of the issues causing turbulence in today’s world. We are living and working in times that are complex and fast changing. The Dao of Complexity is a book about challenging and deepening worldviews to meet these challenges...

In what promises to be an engaging and hopeful evening, author Jean Boulton will introduce the core theme of the book – the remarkable similarity in worldview between the Chinese Daoist philosophy from the 5th century B.C.E. and the modern science of complexity. She will discuss what that means for organisations, communities and us as individuals, and how it impacts our thinking around pressing global issues such as rising inequality and climate change.

The book is illustrated throughout by Frome artist Simon Blakeman, and the way the illustrations emerged provides an interesting insight into one core idea – ‘the path is made through walking’. Jean and Simon will tell the story of their collaboration and Artists in Dialogue - whose artwork also features in the book - will also be present.

As Jean says, ‘it takes a village to raise a book’, so come and meet the people involved and perhaps even discover new ways of applying its principles to your everyday living!

Your ticket includes a complimentary glass of wine and the ticket price of £3 is deductible against the price of book purchases made on the night. Jean will of course be very happy to sign copies.

Important Information:
There is disabled parking only at the venue itself, but plenty of free nearby parking either on-street or in any one of the town centre car parks.
The venue is accessible, with a level entrance to the side of the building and lift access to the Council Chamber on the first floor.
Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start. The event (including signing) should be completely finished by 9pm latest.
