Roles and responsibilities
Customer service
Responding to email and phone enquiries from customers and suppliers
Operating the till accurately
Checking in new books, merchandising and stock management
Contributing to our website and online sales, and social media
Upkeep of the bookshop including cleaning, dusting shelves, etc.
Writing book recommendations for the shop floor, website and newsletter
Flexibility to work overtime shifts
Key requirements
Previous experience in customer facing roles e.g. retail, hospitality or service industry.
Keen reader with an understanding of the book industry, and an interest in independent bookselling
Ability to work well in a small team and to think proactively
Motivated, efficient, with a positive and proactive manner
Computer literate with good writing skills
Ability to work well under pressure, especially during busy periods such as Christmas
.Flexibility to cover overtime and extra shifts
Desirable experience
Experience working in a bookshop.
Experience working with online retailing and social media
